Hello! My name is Erika, and I am so excited to introduce you to The Painted Lady !! I am a licensed esthetician from Artistic Academy, and  have been a lash artist for about two years now. I started at Amazing Lash studio over in Shorthills NJ and am currently employed at a new salon called BLVD located inside Shorthills mall! Now I have the amazing opportunity to develop my own LLC, The Painted Lady! I have so many plans with this business and hope you all will join me on my journey !! For now my business will be all about lashes !! So below are a few go to questions my clients always ask me !! Feel free to ask me any other questions you may have !

What are lash extensions?
Eyelash extensions are used to enhance the length, curliness, fullness, and thickness of natural eyelashes. This gives a range of appearances the client can choose from whether it be simple and natural or full and glamorous. Either way, no more messy mascara!   The extensions may be made from several materials including mink, synthetic, or horse hair. At the Painted Lady I will be using synthetic lashes, replicating the silk or mink appearance.

How long does the application take?
Every studio is different. At my location, full-sets require an hour and a half, refills are about an hour, and mini touch-ups are 30 minutes. These time frames are perfect for a little lash nap, but not too long that it starts getting uncomfortable !!

How long will they last?
Typically the lashes will look nice for about two-three weeks. Now it’s important to understand that our natural lashes go through a hair growth cycle just like any other hair on our body ! That being said , we lose about 3-5 natural lashes a day! Crazy right? So when people ask how long do the extensions last I can’t give you an exact answer. Everyone is different. I typically tell all of my clients to return after two weeks post full-set. This way I can see your retention and can determine the timeframe that best suites your lash needs!

Does it hurt?
Absolutely NOT!! The application procedure is painless and relaxing. Clients recline comfortably with their eyes closed during the entire procedure. Most clients fall asleep. I have heard some horror stories from clients and it’s so upsetting ! Always do your research on your lash stylist !

Who is not a good candidate ?
Unhealthy eyes: pink eyes, Sty, Medication, Allergies, etc.
Unhealthy or sensitive skin around the eye area: Recent LASIK surgery.
Recently done Permanent Makeup, Eye-lift, Microdermabrasion, chemical peel, Retin-A, Accutane

Can I swim, shower, exercise, or visit a spa with lash extensions ?
The first 48 hours are crucial for the longevity of your eyelashes!  For the first 24 hours after application the lashes should not be exposed to water or steam to allow the adhesive time to fully bond. We recommend avoiding swimming and the spa for 48 hours after lash application for best results. Be gentle with your lashes; do not pull on the extensions or rub the eyes excessively. The adhesive will set in this timeframe and then you can go about your daily routine! Excessive amounts of water can cause more fallout, so keep this in mind and talk to me if your concerned you may be getting them wet more than usual (Going on vacation, swimmers, body building, etc).

What do I do if I want them removed?
As the natural lashes cycle grow out and shed, the Eyelash extension will shed with them. However, if necessary, Lashes can be professionally removed by a Lash Stylist using our specially formulated adhesive remover. The removal process normally takes approximately 15 to 30 minutes for a full set. Never try to remove eyelash extensions on your own. Damage can be caused by pulling the extensions off with the natural lash, removing the natural lash before it is ready to shed.

Will the lashes damage my own lashes?
There is a lash stigma that has been created regarding the extensions  that is NOT TRUE!! As long as you are going to a reputable source for your service and having them applied correctly, no harm will come to your natural lash! Often times clients will wear the extensions for a long period of time and are used to seeing that long fuller look. So when they decide to remove them or take a break, they think their natural lashes are shorter and weaker. Since our lashes shed and the extension goes with it, new healthy lashes grow in their place !! Again as mentioned before DO NOT pick or rub the lashes, this is something that could break the lash or rip them out. It will grow back, however, it will take a while.

If you have any other questions please feel free to contact me !! I look forward to working with you.
